Hazel Rose (Cheek) Mooney

Decatur ~ Hazel Rose Mooney, 97, a retired assembly worker, went to be with our Lord Monday, July 6, 2015 in Decatur.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Rev. Ron Fox will officiate. Pallbearers include Sam Godbey, Paul Stevens, Josh Godbey, Harold Stevens, James Plowman, and Brock Barnett.

Hazel was born on October 19, 1917 to Curby and Hestor (Tilley) Cheek in Smithville, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Paul Rose on January 26, 1935 in Alvord, Texas. They had 5 children together. She married Roy Phillips in 1978 and Earl Mooney in 1987.  She is preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Rose in 1965, Roy Phillips in 1981 and Earl Mooney in 1998. Hazel retired from Texas Instruments. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Decatur.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; her infant son in 1955; her oldest daughter, Joy Godbey in 2010; her sisters, Letha McClain, Ora King, and Maxine Drummond; and her brothers, Arthur Cheek, Ivan Cheek, Dennis Cheek, and Nolan Cheek.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Paula Ellis of Weatherford and Cherrie Townsend and husband Steve of Hurst; her son, Richard Rose of Phoenix, Arizona; her sister, Eunice Uberman of Fort Worth; her grandchildren, Marqueta Bouldin, Melinda Plowman, Harold Stevens, Paul Stevens, Susan Hicks and Sam Godbey; 15 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
