Johnny Ray Gaston

Fort Worth ~ Johnny Ray Gaston, 74, went to be with our Lord Friday, May 13, 2022 in Fort Worth.

Funeral Service is 10 AM Saturday, May 21, 2022 at Pleasant Grove #2 Baptist Church with burial following at the cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 PM Friday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.

Rev. Gary Schnable will officiate. Pallbearers will include Joel Watson, Derrick Watson, Rodney Holmes, Clint Wolfe, Al Rios, Aaron Watson, Trey Watson, David Watson, and Arly Watson.

Johnny was born on April 20, 1948 to James A. and Velma Ruth Gaston in Decatur. After graduating he worked until retirement as a truck driver for Topway Materials out of Boyd, Texas. Johnny married the love of his life, Phyllis (Watson) Gaston on February 12, 1966 in Boyd and they were together until her passing in 2012.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis Gaston; and his son, Paul Gaston;

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his 3 sons, Ricky Watson and wife Sandy of Ira, Ray Gaston and wife Mitzi of Fort Worth, and Doug Gaston and wife Jeanna of Hermleigh; his grandchildren, Joel Watson and wife Taylor of Snyder, Derrick Watson and wife Stormie of Ira, Kimberly, Ashley, and Emma of Fort Worth, Chris Reynolds and wife Kim of Oklahoma, Johnathon Gaston of Canada, Will Nobles of Snyder, Weldon Fitzgerald of Snyder, Dakota Gaston of Hermleigh, and DJ Gaston of Snyder; his sister, Viola R. Gaston Reynolds of Springtown; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
