James McGilvray Obituary

James LeRoy McGilvray Sr. peacefully entered the presence of the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, September 19, 2022.  He was born on December 4, 1937 in Fort Worth, Texas to Fred and Onace McGilvray.  At the age of 6, he moved with his family to Keller, Texas to their family dairy farm.  He worked alongside his father on the dairy where he developed a love and passion for agriculture and learned to be a devoted steward of the land.

James married the love of his life, Pat McGilvray, on June 7, 1957 in Keller, Texas.  The two of them continued to live on the dairy where he worked until they sold and moved to their farm in Bridgeport, Texas in 1986.  He faithfully attended The Hills Church in North Richland Hills.  He continued his land stewardship on his farm in Bridgeport, Texas where he tended to his land and cattle.  James and Pat enjoyed every morning together checking on their animals.

He purchased his first John Deere store in Saginaw, Texas, Saginaw Implement, in 1968 until he later moved it to Rhome, Texas in 1977.  He ran his business together with his wife and children until he retired in 2009.  He humbly served his community as a member of the Wise County Water Control and Improvement Board where he held the title of Vice President and Secretary before retiring his position after 30 years.

James was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Onace McGilvray, his brother Sterling McGilvray, and his son James Jr. McGilvray.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Pat McGilvray; his sister Lavone White; daughter Annette Davidson and husband Tony; sons Jesse McGilvray and wife Karla and Clay McGilvray and wife Diane; nine precious grandchildren, James William McGilvray, Katheryne Hinze, Monty Hambrick, Brittany Byars, Cody Hambrick, Mallory Bartlett, Katie Sims, Max McGilvray, and Clayton McGilvray; and 12 great grandchildren that he loved and adored dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held for James at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 23, 2022 in the chapel at The Hills Church, 6300 NE Loop 820, North Richland Hills, Texas 76180.  Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the celebration in front of the chapel.
