Cottondale ~ William F. Polster, 88, was welcomed into the loving comfort of our Lord, Friday, October 30, 2020 in Bridgeport, Texas.
Graveside service is 11 AM Tuesday, November 3 in Cottondale Cemetery. The Reverend Charles Pugh to officiate. Family to receive friends 6-7 PM Monday at the funeral home.
Bill was born January 4, 1932 to Frank and Anna Polster in Allentown, PA. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Wichita Falls, where he met his future wife Nancy on a blind date. They were married 6 weeks later on September 8, 1952 in Wichita Falls.
As a father, Bill will be remembered as one who believed that we were capable of doing anything. He taught us to be fearless in the face of life's endeavors and that failure was always a temporary phase; one of the steps leading to the fruition of our goals and dreams. He taught some to hunt and fish, some to cook, some to dip candles, white wash trees, pour concrete and all of us to clean house.
Later in life, he found a home for his faith at Cottondale Baptist Church where he took great pride and solace in his church family. He was an organizer, fund-raiser and helper to any in need; as well as the deliverer of Jalapeno poppers. Often Bill gave the gift of a single rose to many to make a bright spot in their day, which earned him the nickname of "Rose Man".
He will be missed, mourned and remembered by many. We celebrate his life and are joyous in his reunion with family and friends who have gone before him. He was preceded in death by his two sons, William Francis, Jr. and James Polster.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Nancy Reilly Polster of Cottondale; 4 sons, John Polster and wife Lisa of Denton, Chris Polster and wife Dixie of N. Richland Hills, Charles Polster of Cottondale, David Polster of New Braunfels; 4 daughters, Frances Polster and husband Robert of Euless, Carol Christ and husband Phil of Willmington, NC, Patsy Williams and husband Chad of N. Richland Hills, Mary McCracken of Big Fork MT; 22 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Frank Polster, Jr. of Georgia and Eddie Polster of Lewisville; 2 sisters, Irene Meyer of Allentown, PA his sister, Nancy; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Out of an abundance of caution due to COVID-19, we ask all who attend the service to wear masks and regret that there will be no gathering of family or friends after the service. Special Thanks to the staff Stagecoach Nursing Care facility and Solaris hospice nurses for their care and consideration during Bill’s final days.
