Wendall Allen Osburn

Decatur, TX -- Wendell Allen Osburn, 90, went to be with our Lord Sunday, May 10, 2015, at his home in Decatur.
His memorial service is Friday, May 15, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at Boyd Church of Christ in Boyd, Texas. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM Thursday, May 14 at the church. Coker – Hawkins will be handling arrangements.
Clyde Harold Slimp will officiate. Pallbearers include Leon Tovaas, Jim Coffey, Jason Osburn, Rodney Tovaas, Dustin Osburn, and Seth Slimp.
Wendell was born on October 3, 1924, to Paul and Thelma (Combest) Osburn in McKinney, Texas. He was united in marriage to Naomi Tribble on December 30, 1950, in Gainesville, Texas. Wendell served in the U.S. Army, seeing action in WWII, where he was awarded a Purple Heart. He loved his family and worked hard to provide for them. He was very strong in his faith. Wendell was a member of the Boyd Church of Christ, where he served many years as an elder.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Naomi, his parents, two brothers and two grandsons.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his 10 children, JoAnn Whittenburg and husband Sam, Patsy Slimp and husband Clyde, Virginia Elkins, Billie Murphy and husband Randy, Richard Osburn and wife Beth, Terry Osburn and wife Sherry, Theresa Boulter and husband Bruce, Charlene Hale and husband Ricky, Molly Windle and husband Jeff, and Thomas Osburn; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren and his beloved friend and Caregiver Anita Ratliff.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans, #70, in Decatur, TX, Honor Flight, or Boyd Cemetery Association.
