DECATUR -- Wayne L. Slimp, 75, a retired aircraft assembler for Bell Helicopter and Lockheed Martin, died Tuesday, March 28, 2006. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at Aurora Baptist Church. Burial: Aurora Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Officiator: Rev. Doyle R. Slimp and Rev. Raymond Henson. Pallbearers: Charles Ray Slimp, Ronnie Smith, Bobby Davis, Sean Andress, Matt Naugle, Derek Brown, and Jesse Bulpitt.

Wayne was born on April 10, 1930, in Rhome, Texas, the son of Shade S. and Dovie Lea (Lambert) Slimp. He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Survivors: Son, Carl W. Slimp of Decatur; daughter, Diane Slimp Goodwin of Glen Rose; grandchildren, Chris and Kevin McKee and Shanna Goodwin all of Glen Rose; brothers, the Rev. Doyle R. Slimp and Clyde Slimp, both of Decatur; and sister, Elaine Slimp Andress of Lipan, numerous nieces and nephews.
