Decatur ~ Wanda Ruth Hancock, 88, a homemaker went to be with our Lord Sunday, February 2, 2020 in Decatur, Texas.
Funeral is 11 a.m. Thursday, February 6, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Decatur with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Rev. Gerre Joiner will officiate. Pallbearers include Andy Taylor, Barry Taylor, Jim Bob Stapleton, Billy O’Conner, Leslie Fortenberry, and Blake Fortenberry.
Ruth was born March 22, 1931 to Andy James and Alita Ara (Rainey) Malone in Decatur, Texas. She was united in marriage to Sidney Leon Hancock on September 29, 1950 in Decatur, Texas. Ruth owned an arts and crafts store on the square, she was a certified art teacher. Ruth enjoyed traveling and RVing, she loved walking and reading books.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Sidney Leon Hancock.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Melissa Taylor and husband Jerry of Decatur; her grandchildren, Andy Taylor and wife Kim of Paradise, Barry Taylor and wife Megahn of Decatur, and Nicole Taylor of Decatur; and 6 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, and nephews and a host of friends.
