Walter Leroy Johnson, Sr.

Decatur ~ Walter Leroy Johnson, Sr., 84, went to be with our Lord Sunday, August 25, 2024 in Decatur.

Memorial Service is 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14th, at Gospel Light Baptist Church in Roanoke.

Walter was born on April 24, 1940 to Selby Lee and Alcene (Light) Johnson in Wichita Falls. He was united in marriage to Frankie W. Stewart. Walter retired as a Technical Sergeant after 20 years of honorable service in the United States Air Force. He then worked as a maintenance coordinator for USPS for numerous years. He was a beloved partner, father, grandfather, and friend to many that will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Debbie LaFrance; and his brother, Selby Wayne Johnson.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his partner near the end, Debee Hanes Foster of Decatur; his children, William Barnett of Waco, Jesse Barnett and wife Neva of Commerce, Sabra Rock and husband Rusty of Wimberly, Leah Johnson of Decatur, and Walter Johnson and wife Oliva Wingate of Kingwood; his sisters, Andria Sanderson of Skiatook, Oklahoma and Nancy C. Johnson of Richardson; 12 grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
