Walter Crindon Amonett

Decatur ~ Walter Crindon Amonett, 83, went to be with our Lord Friday, June 29, 2018 in Decatur.

Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Brother Louis Horton will officiate. Pallbearers include Dale Watts, Connor Watts, Jerry Brooks, Jim Hooper, Zach Burns and Chuck Roberts. Honorary pallbearer is Craig Shaw.

Walter was born on September 13, 1934 to William and Marjorie (Crockett) Amonett in Electra, Texas. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Berg on December 17, 1960 in Decatur. Walter was a retired butcher. He was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 57 years, Geraldine Amonett of Decatur; his daughters, Nacina Walker and husband James of Decatur, Lorenda Hornsby and husband Russ of Chico, Roxanna Shivers and Mike of Frisco; his son, Nelson Amonett of Attalla, Alabama; his grandchildren, Nate, Brooke, Matthew, Kaylen, Crindon, Lindsay, Ailey, William, Cydnee, Bailey, Dusti and Kaitlyn; 8 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
