Virginia Bess Renfro, 99, was born June 28, 1926, in Mt. Pleasant, TX to Charles and Abbie (Old) Mason. Our GinGin passed away peacefully on February 3, 2026.
Memorial service will be 2:30 PM, Sunday, February 8, 2026, at First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Family will receive friends 1 hr. prior at the church.
Virginia graduated from Texarkana High School in Texarkana, TX and received her Bachelor & Masters Degrees from East Texas Teachers College in Commerce, Texas. Her careers outside of home included teacher, youth director, and administrative assistant of the South-Central Jurisdiction of the United Methodist Church. Virginia was a member of FUMC Decatur, and a former member of Alpha Phi, Beta Sigma Phi, Decatur Woman’s Club, Decatur Eagle Mother’s Club, and several bridge clubs.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur Fred Renfro; her sisters, Mary Beth Wortham (J.L. Wortham) & AnEll Crudup (Marvin Crudup); and a niece and nephew.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Arthur Fred Renfro, Jr. & wife Cheryl, and Charles Chris Renfro; her grandchildren, Zach Renfro & wife Sarah, Micah Renfro and wife Lindsey, Joseph Renfro & wife Heather, Jenna Heller & husband Heathe; her great grandchildren, Eli, Hatcher, Audri, Aiden, Tucker & Dani Renfro, Hayes, Hyatt & Hatton Heller; 6 nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Virginia had a special interest in the Methodist Children’s Home in Waco TX. Memorials to honor her memory can be sent there or to the charity of your choice.
