BOWIE -- Vesta Verlyene Carney, 92, went to be with our Lord on Friday, Jan. 16, 2009 in Bowie. Graveside service: 2 PM Sunday at Sunset Cemetery. No set visitation. Rev. Doyle Wade and Dr. Jarrett Armstrong will officiate.
Mrs. Carney was born on April 19, 1916, the daughter of E.T. and Bessie (Price) Love in Crafton. She was a homemaker. She married Frank Carney in 1965 in Fort Worth. She was a member of the Zion Valley Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Alvord.
Mrs. Carney was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Carney; her daughter, Carolyn Harvick; her son, David Able; her grandson, Ricky Harvick; her brother, Wilbert Love; and her sister, Clarice Kemp.
Survivors: daughter, Jan Armstrong and husband Joe of Sunset; 4 grandchildren, Joey, J. Lee, and Jarrett Armstrong, Robin Kuntz; 10 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; her brother, Travis Love of Tulsa Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews.
