Valeria Joy Lewis

Valeria Joy Cleveland Lewis, 93, of Denton, Texas, formerly of Decatur, Texas, went to be with her Lord Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Val, as she was known, was born July 16, 1933 to Oran Bob and Memry (Funchess) Cleveland in Decatur, Texas. She was united in marriage March 20, 1953 and had three children in this union, Marcy Gay Hudson, Leslie Paul Oates, and Dana Joy Pomerance. On May 17, 1980 she was married to Dr. William “Bill” Marion Lewis in Decatur, Texas at their home.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many who will miss her deeply.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Memry Cleveland; her husband, Dr. Bill Lewis; and her son, Leslie Paul Oates.

She is survived by her two daughters, Marcy Hudson and husband Bob of Decatur, Texas and Dana Pomerance and husband Norm of Denton, Texas; her four grandchildren, Tiffany Roussel and husband Garrett of Denton, Texas, Stetson Oates and wife Leslie of Edmond, Oklahoma, Meredith Quach and husband Cha of Frisco, Texas, and Gracie Oates of Paradise, Texas; three great-grandsons, Cooper Gonzalez, Reece Gonzalez, and Landry Oates; her three great-granddaughters, Vera Kate and Avi Quach, and Blake Lee Oates; many nieces, nephews and extended family.
