Vadis Nelson (Warner) Simmons

Boyd ~ Vadis Nelson Simmons, 87, a retired telephone operator, went to be with our Lord Tuesday, January 6, 2015 in Fort Worth.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at Boyd Church of Christ with burial in Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd.
Bro. Larry Calvin and Bro. David Clark will officiate. Pallbearers include Chad Nelson, Greg Erwin, Gary Davis, David Warner, Norman Warner and Jim Warner. Honorary pallbearer is Eli Davis.
Vadis was born on April 27, 1927 to Richard and Alziabee (McDaniel) Warner in Chico, Texas. She was a telephone operator at Central-Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, A.J. Nelson; her granddaughter, Terri Meador; her brothers, Gilbert, Wayne, Clyde and Morris Warner.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Jerry Nelson and wife Stella of Ft. Worth, and Sharkey Nelson and wife Dinky of N. Richland Hills; her daughter, Sherian Jones and husband Bill of Jacksboro; her grandchildren, Curtis, Michelle, Chad, Amanda, Sherri and Greg; 15 great grandchildren ; 3 great great grandchildren; her brothers, David Warner and wife Lois, Norman Warner and wife Terry and Jim Warner and wife Ronni; her sister, Mary McClary; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and a host of friends.
