Tonya Kennedy

Aurora~ Tonya Renee Kennedy, 58, went to be with our Lord Saturday, May 31, 2025 in Rhome.

Funeral service is 2 PM Thursday June 5, 2025 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Boyd with burial at Azleland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Officiant will be Brother Woody. Pallbearers are Anthony Burleson, Keith Kennedy, Rex Dirks, Geronimo Garza, Marty Dirks and Dan Hunt. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Meredith and Rickey Meredith.

Tonya was born on November 4, 1966 in El Dorado, Kansas to Carol Ann (Yoakum) and Galen Martin Dirks. She was united in marriage to Jimmy Kennedy on July 4, 1987 in Saginaw, Texas. They spent 31 beautiful years together before his passing in 2018. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother as well as a cherished member of the Faith Baptist Church in Newark, TX. Tonya was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to many that will miss her dearly.

She is preceded in death by parents Carol and Glen Dirks; step mother Judy Dirks, her husband Jimmy, her daughters April Holmes and Crystal Kennedy.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter Amanda Burleson and fiance Geronimo Garza; her son Keith Kennedy; her grandchildren, Anthony Burleson, Steven Burleson and Austin Burleson; her brothers Martin Dirks, Greg Dirks, Rex Dirks, Louis Wood, Wayne Wood, Todd Wood, Eric Elrod; her sisters Kimberly Dirks, Lori Ambrose, Shawnna Elrod and Misty Elrod; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
