Tommy Lee Dickey, 65, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, November 2, 2025 in Decatur, Texas.
Funeral service is 11 AM, Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd with burial at Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive
friends 9:30 AM to 11 AM at the Funeral Home.
Reverend Fred Raney will officiate. Pallbearers are Brian Dickey, Barry Dickey, Chris Fluharty, Terry Lundgren, Drue LeFan
and Harold Rose, with honorary pallbearer, Danny Keyworth.
Tommy was born January 31, 1960 in Decatur, Texas. His parents were Allen & Judy Dickey. He married Stacy Gill Dickey on
October 17, 1981 and swore to never divorce her as he didn’t want to lose his wonderful in-laws, Lanny & Sue Gill, a relationship that he so loved.
His children, Erica and Brian, brought him great joy. He was extremely proud of their achievements, life choices and accomplishments.
He loved his daughter-in-law, Kendal, like one of his own and was very happy to embrace Chris, his future son-in-law, into the family and was
looking so forward to walking his daughter down the aisle this coming spring.
Though not as physically active as he would have liked to be with his grandsons, Blaine and Bryson, he had such patience and a way of explaining
things so they could understand on a wide variety of topics. He took great pride in the fact he taught Blaine how to execute the perfect spiral football
throw and enjoyed watching both boys play baseball and football.
Early on, he enjoyed hunting at the deer lease in San Angelo. He started bringing Brian with him at an early age and to this day, it is a pastime
that Brian continues and holds great memories of their times spent together.
Tommy was a very talented artist, albeit not a very motivated one; therefore, he would have been considered a starving artist. Thus, why he had
to rely on his day job. He was a Journeyman Welder by trade and retired from General Motors in 2015 after 30+ years.
After retirement, Tommy’s illness limited a lot of what he could do, but he was an avid fan of the old westerns and watched the classics such as
Gunsmoke, The Virginian and his all-time favorite – Lonesome Dove.
He loved going to Navarre, Florida every summer, starting when the kids were small. That tradition has continued to this day with his
ever expanding family. Those special memories will always be kept near and dear by those that love him most.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Allen & Judy Dickey, sister, Cindy Dickey, and nephew Randall Kyle Erwin.
Those left behind to cherish his loving memory are his wife of 44 years, Stacy Dickey of Boyd; daughter Erica Dickey and fiance’ Chris Fluharty of Waxahachie
and son, Brian Dickey and wife Kendal of Decatur; grandsons Blaine and Bryson Dickey of Decatur; sister Staci Romine and husband Mark of Boyd;
brother Barry Dickey and wife Kerri of New Braunfels; his parents-in-law Lanny and Sue Gill of Boyd, sister-in-law Stephanie Lundgren and husband Terry
of Aubrey, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
