Sherry Lynn Harris

Sherry Lynn Harris, 78, of Decatur went to be with our Lord Saturday, July 5th, 2025.

Funeral is 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 10th at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial at Pleasant Grove #1 Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Gerre Joiner will officiate. Pallbearers include Rodney Quinn, Shayne Harris, Calvin Thompson, Jake Warner, Todd Harris, and Cameron North. Honorary pallbearers include, Steve Warner, Mike Ostrom, Scott Sohl, Waylon Sohl, and Kerry Clower.

Sherry was born September 21st, 1946 to Robert Nolen and Rosalie (Mann) Gregg, Jr. in Decatur, Texas. She was united in marriage July 19th, 1976 to Henry Buck Harris in Decatur, Texas. She graduated Texas A&M Commerce with a teaching degree. Sherry was a retired special education teacher, she taught over 40 years and also delivered mail in Boyd, Texas. She loved helping others and teaching, Sherry enjoyed doing Summer Camps (Butch Clark Summer Camp & Wise Co. Olympiathons) Sherry was secretary of Pleasant Grove Cemetery #1 for numerous years, and a member of the Wise County Historical Society, also the Historical Commission. Sherry was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to many who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rosalie Gregg, Jr.; and her husband, Henry Buck Harris.

Those left to cherish her memory are, her daughters, Ashley Sohl and husband Scott of Paradise, and Audra Harris of Decatur; her grandson, Waylon Sohl; her sisters, Jill Eder and husband Richard of Paradise, Robbie Weaver and husband Richard of Megarel, and Dana Brooks and husband Philip of Decatur.
