Serving as pallbearers will be Curtis Young, Sam Merrell, Ken Jameson, Casey Merrell, Daryl Merrell, and Ryan Thomson.

Samuel was born on April 15, 1947, in Denison, to Joe Bush Merrell and Bertha Mae Perkins. From an early age, he carried a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

For 43 years, Samuel built a career as an auto parts salesman, forming lasting relationships across the Metroplex. He didn’t just sell parts, he shared stories, advice, and a genuine passion for anything with wheels and an engine. Cars weren’t just machines to him, they were a lifelong love language.

More than anything, Samuel’s pride and joy was his family. He had a way of making people feel welcome, steady, and cared for. Whether through a conversation, a shared laugh, or quiet support, he showed up for the people he loved. His presence was a constant, like a well-tuned engine that never let you down.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife, Doris Merrell, and his second wife, Barbara Nunn.

Those who will carry his memory forward include his beloved mother Bertha Mae, sisters Martha Howell and Paulette Webster and brother Jimmy Merrell, fiancée, Cathi Hess; his children, Tina Jameson, Ken “Bubba” Jameson and wife Rachel, Julie Young and husband Curtis, Sam Merrell and wife Carmen, his grandchildren, Chevy, Landon, Caitlin, Laney Kae, Kendall, and Sarah; and his great-grandchildren, Lukas, Jaxson, and Faith. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends whose lives are richer for having known him.

Samuel’s story doesn’t end here. It lives on in every mile driven, every shared memory, and every moment spent with the people he loved most. He will be deeply missed, warmly remembered, and forever part of the road ahead.
