R.V. "Sonny" Martin

Bridgeport ~ R.V. “Sonny” Martin, 85, a retired business owner, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, March 4, 2015 in Gustine, Texas.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Thomas Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Rev. Larry Potts will officiate. Pallbearers include Bud Read, Terry Cobb, Ricky Martin, Bill E. Martin, Hershel Stinnet, and David Duncan.

R.V. was born on September 12, 1929 to Walter and Pearl (McDaniel) Martin in Bridgeport. He was united in marriage to Nancy Stepps on November 22, 2008 in Bridgeport. R.V. owned and operated Bridgeport CB sales and service for 15 years. Later he started Martin Trucking which he owned and operated for 33 years. R.V was a member of the Cates Street Baptist Church. He loved golfing, dancing and woodworking.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Edna Lucille Setser Martin; his second wife, Wilda Marie Dunn Martin; and his sister, Geneva Ruth Church.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Martin of Alvarado; his sons, Danny Martin and wife Pearl of Azle, Johnny Mack Martin of Bridgeport; his daughter, Sissy Rogers and husband Roy of Gustine, Texas; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Betty Marie Cobb of Paradise, Bobby Jean Read of Paradise, Shirley McNeil, Reba Faye McKeever of Bridgeport; his brother, Billy Jack Martin of Bridgeport; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.
