Ruth Velasquez Casillas

Bridgeport~ Ruth Velasquez Casillas, 94, of Bridgeport went to be with our Lord on Saturday, November 28, 2020 in Bridgeport.

Graveside Service is 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 3, 2020 at the Mexican Cemetery in Bridgeport.

Father Reehan Soosai Antony will officiate. Pallbearers are to include  Rich Alcaraz, Jr., Marty Casillas, Robert Gonzales, Charley Casillas, Jr., Angelo Allergria, Joey Vasquez, Jesse Casillas, and Marco Sepulveda.

Ruth was born on July 4, 1926 to Manuel and Mary Lou (Najera) Velasquez in Bridgeport, Texas. She was united in marriage to Martin Casillas on January 6, 1941 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ruth was co-owner of Casillas Mexican Restaurant in Bridgeport, Texas which they operated for many years before retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin Casillas; her son David Casillas; her daughters, Helen Casillas and Juanita Salas; her brother, Manuel Velasquez; her sisters, Carmen Velasquez, Jovita Salazar, Juanita Martinez, and Lupe Velasquez; and her son-in-law, Jesse Martinez.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Mary Lou Martinez of Ft. Worth, Josephine Morales and husband Joe of Ft. Worth, Ida Gonzales and husband Santos of Alvarado, and Pauline Ramos and husband Robert of Ft. Worth; her sons, Charley Casillas and wife Cecilia of Ft. Worth, and Martin Casillas, Jr. and wife Mary Helen of Bridgeport; eighteen grandchildren, numerous great and great-greatgrandchildren, numerous extended family members and a host of friends.

The family would also like to add a thank you to the Bridgeport Medical staff for taking great care of our mother.
A “special thanks” to the Hospice nurses Ty, Martha, Lori, and Liz.
