Ruben Zapata, 65, of Runaway Bay died on Monday, November 26, 2012.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, November 29th at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Ruben was born February 6, 1947 in Del Rio, Texas to Manuel and Juanita (Mendoza) Zapata. He served in the 3rd Recon of the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. Ruben married Carolyn Green on October 26, 1969 in Acuna, Mexico. He retired from Global Group Inc. as a printer.
Left behind to cherish his memory are wife, Carolyn Zapata of Runaway Bay; 5 sons, Weldon Eugene Bartoo of Runaway Bay, Ruben Lee Zapata, Jr. of Runaway Bay, Anthony Bartoo and wife Tracy of Chico, Jason Samuel Zapata of Runaway Bay, and Jessie Martinez and wife Nicole of Runaway Bay; 2 daughters, Yolanda Zapata of Runaway Bay and Michelle Duncan and husband Chase of Frisco; 12 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, Efrain Hernandez of Maryland, Raul Zapata of Fort Worth, and Manuel Zapata, Jr. of Austin; 2 sisters, Orfa Linda Subialdea of Fort Worth and Mickey Shortnacy of Fort Worth; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, 3 sisters, and a granddaughter, Brittney Zapata.
