Royce Wayne Williams

Boyd- Royce Wayne Williams, born August 24, 1933, passed away June 8, 2024.

Funeral is Monday June 17th at 11:00 AM at Hawkins Funeral Home in Boyd, with burial at Boyd Cemetery. Family will receive friends at 10AM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will include Kirby Williams, Shawn Williams, Jay Hutcherson, Travis Williams, Kyle Lewis and Matthew Lewis.

Royce proudly served  in the U.S. Army  as a Corporal Technician.

On March 21, 1959 he married Florence Evelyn West, a teacher at Handley High School. They moved to Boyd, Texas in 1970. After working for other contractors, in 1985 Royce created R. Williams Electric company, along with his son Rafe. After retiring in 1995, Royce and Evelyn enjoyed traveling around the U.S., as well as Canada, Scotland, and Ireland. Royce also made several trips to Alaska on hunting and fishing trips with his longtime friend, Bill Welch.

Royce was a fine wood craftsman and upon retirement spent many hours inside his workshop building furniture and other treasured items for his family. His grandchildren spent many valuable hours with their Poppy learning life lessons while building toy boats and other small projects. As adults they would return to seek his help building larger items.

He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn; sister Shirley Hutcherson and brother Charles Williams and wife Helen.

Royce is survived by his son Rafe Williams and wife Annette of Boyd, his daughter Mary Lewis and husband Keith of Keller; grandchildren, Amanda McIntire and husband Bobby of Boyd, Travis Williams and wife Jennifer of Decatur, Kyle Lewis and wife Ashley of Northlake, Mathew Lewis of Keller; great grandchildren Evelyn Matthews, Ella Williams, and Wyatt Lewis; his brother-n-law Jim Hutcheson of Arlington, many other nieces and nephews, extended family members and a host of friends.

In Lieu of flowers the family ask for donations be made to the Boyd First United Methodist Church building fund. P.O. Box 337 Boyd, Texas 76023.
