Roy Wharton Young

Funeral 10 a.m. Monday, September 17th at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Johnny Irish, Chaplin Berl Pedigo and Mike Wheat officiating. Interment: Sand Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.

Pallbearers include Calvin Jackson, Wendell Berry, Jr., Andrew Rottner, Rusty Ford, Carey Williams, Asa Johnson, Jr., Mark Montgomery and Randy Burkhart.

Roy was born on December 11, 1962 in Fort Worth, Texas to Jim Tom and Mary Evelyn (Bearden) Young. He was united in marriage to Donna Sue Springs on February 13, 1988 in Decatur, Texas. Roy was a founding member of Wise County Challenger Charities and President of the W. C. Youth Fair Champions & Blue Ribbon Club. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna Young; daughter, Emily Young both of Decatur; sisters, Barbara Ashcraft of Waco, Debra Walker and husband Ronnie of Decatur, Linda Young and husband Alan Mayhew of Fort Worth; and many other loved ones.

It's been many years since I have seen Roy but having worked with him for a long time I always remember him having a twinkle in his eye and makings laugh.
