Roy Dale Hale

Roy Dale Hale, 73, was born on August 25, 1953, in Decatur, Texas, to Wiley Ward Hale and Nannie Lou (Lewis) Hale. Dale was a man with a big heart, a strong faith, and a personality that lit up every room. He loved to pick, cut up, and make people laugh. He never needed a reason to have a good time, and some of the simplest moments with Dale became the memories his family will treasure most.

Funeral Service is at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3rd, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial at Cumby Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 2nd, at the funeral home.

If you knew Dale, you could probably count on seeing him in his cowboy hat and cowboy boots. They were simply part of who he was. He may not have been a cowboy by trade, but he certainly had the look—and the personality to go with it.

Above everything else, Dale loved Jesus with his whole heart. His faith was not something he kept to himself. He shared the love of Christ with everyone he met, and his life was a reflection of the love, kindness, and joy he found in his relationship with Jesus. He had a way of making people feel welcome, loved, and important.

And then there was his love for his wife, Hattie. Dale loved her with his whole heart. She was the love of his life, his best friend, and the person who brought him comfort, happiness, and companionship throughout their years together. He treasured her in a way that was evident to everyone around them. Their love was more than words—it was found in the little things, in the laughter they shared, in the life they built together, and in the unwavering way he loved and cared for her. Being her husband was something Dale cherished deeply, and the love he had for Hattie will remain a lasting part of the legacy he leaves behind.

To his family, Dale was a devoted father, a proud Pawpaw, and the kind of father-in-law anyone would be blessed to have. He loved his children deeply and took great pride in the people they had become. Being a Pawpaw was one of the greatest joys of his life, and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought him a happiness that was easy to see. As a father-in-law, Dale welcomed his children’s spouses as part of the family and loved them as his own. He loved his family fiercely and unconditionally, and there was never any doubt how much they meant to him.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Hattie Hale; his daughter, Kim Hale and partner Raylynn; his sons, Brandon Hood and wife Sarah, and Trinidy Hale and wife Brooke; his grandchildren, Chris Gilmore and wife Masi, Cheyenne Garcia and husband Opi, Shelby Hood, Tory Milstead and husband Tyler, Kortnie Schlekewy and husband Zane, Billy Hood, Ty Hale, Bodee McCain and Adam Hood; and his seven great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his sisters, Betty Bentley and husband Davis, and Nancy Withers and husband Travis, as well as numerous extended family members and loved ones.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley Ward Hale and Nannie Lou (Lewis) Hale; his wife, Sherlyn Lynn (Morrow) Hale; his brothers, Eddie Raymond Hale, Jabo Hale, and Charlie Hale; his sisters, Hazel Sherwood, Elizabeth Ann Miles, and Frances Jackson; and his son, Jerry Hood.

The world may feel a little quieter without his laughter, his teasing, his stories, and his familiar cowboy hat walking through the door. He will live on in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, the lessons he taught us, and in every memory that brings a smile through the tears. Though he is gone from our sight, the love he gave so freely will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
