“It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Roy “Buddy” Davis on October 20, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on May 18, 1949, in Fort Worth, Texas, Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Davis and Roxie Hobbs; his brother, Steve Williams; and his brother-in-law, Vester “Ves” Venable.
Buddy graduated from Grapevine High School in 1967. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970, spending much of his service in Vietnam. After returning home, he built a long career at Miller Brewing Company, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic for 34 years before retiring in 2011. He was also an honorary Mason, a distinction he held since 1984.
Buddy was a devoted husband to Penny, his wife of 23 years. He is survived by his children, Laura Porter, Jason Davis, Kerensa Davis, and Jenny DeArmond; his stepdaughter, Jennifer Vacca; and his granddaughter, Ashlee Porter. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Venable, Roxie Lee Walker, and Frankie Montgomery; his brother-in-law, Monty; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Buddy will be remembered for his quick wit and infectious smile. He loved playing guitar and singing country music with his sister Lee and brother-in-law Ves. Together, they enjoyed songs by some of their favorite artists, including George Jones, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Johnny Cash. Those times spent making music together were special, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those who shared them.
Buddy will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. His memory will live on through the music he enjoyed, the laughter he shared, and the memories he leaves behind.”
