Robert “Treb” Morris McKinnon IV, 13, of Decatur, died Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025. Treb lived his 13 years with a faith that shone through in the way he treated others - generously, joyfully and with a big heart. His family rests in the promise that he is now held safely in the arms of his Savior and carries forward the light he shared so freely with everyone who knew him.
Born Sept. 19, 2012, Treb was the beloved son of Robert “Trey” Morris McKinnon III and Andrea McKinnon, and a proud brother to his big sister, Jayci, and younger brother, Cove, roles he embraced with love.
From the beginning, Treb carried a spark all on his own. A gifted athlete and loyal friend, Treb had a way of making others laugh and feel welcomed. He dreamed of one day playing football for Ohio State and trained with the determination of someone far beyond his years. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, Friday night lights and every chance to be on the field with teammates and friends.
Treb was the kind of teammate who lifted everyone up. Coaches will remember his heart, grit and willingness to step into any role. Teachers recall a determined, respectful student who showed up ready to work hard and give his best. His friends knew him as someone who listened, joked, encouraged and made everyone feel like they belonged.
Off the field, Treb loved fishing, being outdoors and hanging out with his family. He was happiest doing the things he loved most -a good catch at the tank, a game in the yard or an afternoon spent playing with friends. He was a son, brother, grandson, great-grandson, cousin and nephew who brought energy, laughter and a big heart into every room.
He is survived by his parents, Robert “Trey” Morris McKinnon III and Andrea McKinnon; sister, Jayci; and brother, Cove. He is also survived by grandparents Robert “Bob” Morris McKinnon Jr. and Terri McKinnon, and Doug and Lori White; great-grandparents, Carroll McKinnon, Carol Kirkland and Nina White; aunts and uncles Brittany and Jerrod Unkart, Caliwa and Vianey White, and Alyssa and Michael Keeper; and cousins Ellie Jack and Sawyer Harfield; Ryett, Ryder and Gracie White; and Meridian and Rhys Keeper.
Pallbearers are Caliwa White, Jerrod Unkart, Lake and Ledgen Caraway, Jim Bob Stapleton, Beau Bell, Andreu Hunt, Robbie Surratt and Chad Montgomery.
Honorary pallbearers are Ryett and Ryder White; Kanon Bell, Parker Hunt, Bray Stapleton, Daniel Anderson, Gavin Sample, Graham Surratt and Brayden Boswell.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Robert Morris McKinnon Sr.; Jack Kirkland; Delbert White; and Tommy and Peggy Faulkner.
