Bridgeport ~ Robert Stephen Howery, 79, went to be with our Lord, Thursday, April 30, 2026, in Decatur, TX.
Robert (Bob) was born on October 14, 1946, to Billy "W.N." and Geraldine (Francisco) Howery in Des Moines, Iowa. He was united in marriage to Susan Marie Sieg on June 24, 1967, in Osseo Wisconsin.
Bob, whose father and grandfather were railroaders, began his career directly out of the University of Minnesota with the Northern Pacific Railway Management training position in Spokane Washington. He and Sue headed west and then continued many more moves with children Rob, Tracy, and Teri as his rising role in the company continued. Bob retired from his position as an executive of the Burlington Northern Santa Fe. He also extended his railroad career working several years for the Rio Grande Pacific in New Orleans.
Living in the Colleyville, Southlake, Keller area for many years, Bob and Sue became very involved with community and made many wonderful friends. Bob graciously endured many fundraising galas and benefits that Sue dragged him to with the Colleyville Womans Club and other area organizations. Bob and Sue loved to travel together and bonded with so many dear travel friends.
After retirement, Bob and Sue moved to their Lake Bridgeport property and have cherished and loved the peacefulness and beauty of the setting. The most important of all is the love filled and joyful gatherings with their large family.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his granddaughter, Devyn Nicole Howery; his grandson, Zachary Xylon Bogert; his sister, Judy Schmitt; and his brother, Bill Howery.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 58 years, Susan; his son, Rob Howery and his wife, Christina of Littleton, Colorado; his daughters, Tracy Howery of College Station, Teri Howery of Fort Worth, and their sibling, Roberto Ruales and wife Elisha of Miami, Florida; his grandchildren, Amanda Howery, Cori Howery, Brianna Bogert, Nicholas Bogert (Miranda and Lyla), Cannon Bogert, Leviticus Paris, Theo Paris (Kit), George Bloom, August Bloom, Baylee Long, Jared Long, Cooper Long (Hailey), Nevaeh Douglass; his great-grandchildren, Parker Irons and Ellie Long.
