After graduating from Paradise High School, Rob answered the call of duty at a young age, enlisting in the United States Navy with a sense of patriotism and dedication that would define his life's journey. He served with distinction and valor, traversing the seas abroad and upholding the values of freedom and democracy.
Throughout his military career, Rob exemplified the Navy's core values of honor, courage, and commitment. He faced adversity with resilience and integrity, earning the respect and admiration of his comrades-in-arms. He was honorably discharged from the Navy after serving on the U.S.S. Ranger aircraft carrier as a gunner during the Vietnam War.
Born into a family rooted in faith, Rob was raised by Nolan and Sybil Cook along with 4 siblings; Wanda Jean McBride (Gary McBride), Jim Cook (Janice Cook), Toni Howell (Jack Howell), and Kenneth Cook. His bond with his brothers and sisters was one of love, laughter, and shared experiences. Together, they lived/laughed/loved through life's highs and lows, forging memories that will forever be cherished.
Rob also enjoyed a large host of family, which included nieces, nephews, stepdaughters and grandchildren.
Rob was a member of First Baptist Church of Paradise. Rob’s heart overflowed with love and kindness. He touched the lives of many with his acts of charity, generosity, and forgiveness.
He cherished his community and found immense joy volunteering as a Fire Fighter and working at the historical museum in Paradise. His presence will be deeply missed by the community.
Though his physical presence may be gone, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were touched by his love. We will keep your memory alive in all our hearts.
