Ricky was born January 26, 1955 to Joseph Elvin and Marjorie Jo (Jackson) Stutt in
Fort Worth. He was united in marriage for 31 years to Judith Joanna Warner on
January 18, 1994 in Decatur.
Ricky was a retired teacher by profession, but he was a man of many talents and wore
many professional hats over the years, each with integrity, humility and heart. From his
early days as a Marine to his time at Maxey Case House as a tractor mechanic and later
as an Auto Shop teacher. He was the proud owner of Lazy S Kennels and Services,
where he devoted himself to breeding exceptional Labrador retrievers. His dogs found
loving homes not only across the US, but all over the world, earning Lazy S Kennels a
reputation for quality, care and integrity that extended far beyond his hometown. He
touched countless lives and made an impact in every field he entered. His colleagues
admired his dedication while his clients and students often became lifelong friends.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, even though he was very stubborn at times, it
was Ricky’s warmth, humor and unwavering kindness that defined him. He had a gift
for making others feel seen, heard, and valued whether offering wise counsel, lending a
helping hand, or simply sharing a quiet moment. He gave generously of himself. His
deep love for the Lord guided his words, his work and the way he lived each day with
grace, compassion and a heart full of faith.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Decatur. Ricky was a beloved husband,
father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many who
will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Marjorie Stutt; and his father-inlaw,
Ed Warner.
