Bridgeport ~ Rex Vilas Powell, 72, a retired machine shop owner, went to be with our Lord Monday, March 23, 2015 in Bridgeport.
Funeral is 12:00 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2015 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Rev. Jerry P. Galloway will officiate. Pallbearers include Jayson Sleeman, Keith Lilly, Chad Lilly, Tanner Sleeman, Spencer Sleeman, and Cody Harper. Honorary pallbearer is Travis Woods.
Rex was born on October 27, 1942 to Millard and Dollie (Whitlock) Powell in Alma, Arkansas. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Horn on April 12, 1960 in Fort Worth. Rex owned and operated a machine shop.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Walter, Millard, AB, and Larry Powell; and his granddaughter, Marissa Sleeman.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Charlotte Powell of Bridgeport; his daughters, Cheryl Sleeman and husband Jay of Newark, Melynda Lilly and husband Mark of Watauga; his grandchildren, Keith, Jayson, Krista, Chad, Shaina, Spencer, and Tanner; his great-grandchildren, Gavyn, Chase, Ethan, Taylor, Landon, Peyton, and Nathan; his sisters, Yvonia Saxton of Indiana, Regina Hudgins of Fort Worth; his brothers, Allen Powell of Alma, Arkansas, and Lennox Powell of Kansas; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
