Reta (Rjay) Shelton

Boyd ~ Reta Jay Shelton (RJay), 70, entered the gates of  Heaven very peacefully after almost a four year battle with cancer on Monday morning August 11, 2014 in Decatur.  Her strength lives on in her family.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at Christian-Hawkins Funeral Home chapel with burial in Oaklawn Cemetery in Decatur. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Speaker will be Dane Shelton assisted by Joe Caballero. Pallbearers include Dub Shelton, Dane Shelton, Blaine Shelton, Zachary Shelton, Treat Peterson, and Cody Peterson.

RJay was born on December 15, 1943 to J.W. and Reta (Sparkman) Taylor in Ballinger, Texas. She graduated from Ballinger High School and was valedictorian of her graduating class from LVN nursing school. RJay retired from Airborne Express as a regional manager. She was very active in the Boyd Elementary School Booster Club. RJay was a very loving mother and grandmother and friend to many.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Dub Shelton and wife Debbie of Gallitan, Tennessee, Dane Shelton of Decatur and Blaine Shelton and wife Jenny of San Angelo; her daughter, Tammi Peterson and husband Stephen of Ft. Worth; her grandsons, Zac Shelton, Treat Peterson, Cody Peterson, Landon Shelton, Blake Shelton and Ryder Shelton; her granddaughters, Amanda Peterson, Mary Peterson, Brayden Shelton, and Grace Shelton; her great grandson, Colton Shelton; her brother, Dick Taylor and wife Theresa of Celina; other family members and a host of friends.
