Reginaldo S. Valdez

Reginaldo S. Valdez, 76, passed from this earth Tuesday, March 3, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.

Funeral is 1:00 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Reginaldo was born November 5, 1949 to Jesus Valdez and Bernandina Sanchez Valdez in Zaragoza, Coahuila, Mexico. He was united in marriage January 7, 1968 to Elda Elena Fraga in Zaragoza, Mexico. Starting work at a young age he was able to retire by the age of 55 and pursue his dream of farming and raising his lifelong passion of game fowl. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus and Bernandina Valdez; and 2 brothers, Rodrigo Valdez and Jesus Valdez, Jr.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife of over 57 years, Elda Elena Valdez; his sons, Reginaldo Valdez, Jr. and Estevan Valdez and wife Brenda; his daughter, Veronica Valdez Tapia and husband Hector; his grandsons, Diego Martinez, Daniel Valdez, and Alejando Valdez; his granddaughters, Elena Valdez, and Valeria Tapia; his brothers, Roberto Valdez, Rogelio Valdez, Cruz Valdez, Raul Valdez, and Ramiro Valdez; his sister, Martha Garcia; extended family and a host of friends.
