Sunset ~ Raymond Barnett, 68, went to be with our Lord Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Denton.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 25, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Alvord with burial in Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.
Bill Cleveland, Chuck Eubanks, Roger Jones, Dan Campbell will officiate. Pallbearers include Jordan Sherwood, Cody Burdine, Colby Burdine, Seth Weatherly, Cary Simmons, and Benny Simmons. Honorary pallbearers are Emma Sherwood, Andrew Hutto, Jackson Hutto, Jason Barnes, Heath Barnes, and Keith Meyer.
Raymond was born on October 31, 1948 to Carl and Vivian (Simmons) Barnett in Bowie, Texas. He was united in marriage to Melba Jean Pierce on April 12, 1968 in Alvord. Raymond retired as heavy equipment operator for TXI. He was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church in Alvord. Raymond was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Marion Barnett.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 49 years, Melba Barnett of Sunset; his daughters, Christie Sherwood and husband Jack of Alvord, Alyssa Hutto of Alvord, Jeanna Moreno and husband Randy of Flower Mound; his grandchildren, Jordan Sherwood, Emma Sherwood, Andrew Hutto, and Jackson Hutto; his sister, Betty Ann Barnett Weatherly and husband Harvey of Chico; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
