Phillip Nivens, 54, of Stephenville, went to be with our Lord Monday, September 19, 2011 in Seattle, Washington.
Funeral is 1 p.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Acton United Methodist Church in Granbury with burial in Acton Cemetery. Family will receive friends 12-1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Phillip was born on August 30, 1957 to Jerry and Montez (Harry) Nivens in Bowie. He married Vicki Smith on July 27, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Phillip owned and operated the Hard 8 BBQ, CCI and many other entities. He lived life to the fullest and had many accomplishments. Phillip was a pilot, a rancher, and had cutting horses. He was the captain of his boat, "The Hard Way", which he loved to take to Alaska with family and friends.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vicki Nivens of Stephenville; his daughters, Ryan Culberson and husband Justin of Granbury, Lanie Nivens of Granbury, and Carie Decker and husband Chad of Stephenville; his grandchildren, Maycee, Allie Grace, and Talan; his parents, Jerry and Montez Nivens of Granbury; his sister, Phyllis Zinn and husband Ronald of Granbury; his cousin, Randy Moore and wife Aletha; his best friend and dog, River; other family members and a host of friends.
Memorials may be made to charities of choice.
