Phillip Bates Johnson

Phillip Bates Johnson, 74, of Decatur passed from this earth Sunday, August 30, 2026.

Graveside Service is 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.

Phillip was born February 20, 1952 to Thomas Chester and Nelda Jane (Lester) Johnson in Justin, Texas. He proudly served our country in the United States Army. Phillip was a retired janitor after many years with the Ft. Worth School District. He was a member of the Church of Christ and a beloved brother, uncle and friend to many who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Nelda Johnson; 2 brothers, Paul & Bobby Johnson; and a sister, Pamela Riley.

Those left to cherish his memory are his brothers, Allen Johnson & wife Patricia of Benbrook, Donald Johnson & wife Karen of Aledo, Thomas “Chet” Johnson of Sunset and David Johnson of Coppell; his sisters, Terry Hill & husband Donald of Alvord, and Gwendolyn Hignight of Haltom City; extended family members and a host of friends.
