Bridgeport ~ Peggy Barksdale, 76, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Sunday, November 23, 2014 in Decatur.
Funeral is 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Justin with burial in Justin Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Rev. Gary Demmitt will officiate. Pallbearers include Gary Barksdale, Jeff Barksdale, Doyle Barksdale, Danny Meeks, Alan Hunter, and David Rodenburgh.
Peggy was born on December 15, 1937 to Floyd and Irene (Lagore) Long in Saint Paul, Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Floyd Barksdale who preceded her in death in 2002.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd Barksdale; and her brothers, Bill and Dale Long.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cheila Demmitt and husband Gary of Bridgeport; her son, Gayland Barksdale and wife Caroline of Falls Church, Virginia; her son, Arnie Barksdale and wife Cindy of Chico; her grandchildren, Shannon, Kara, Haylee, Clint, Allie, Grant, and Cambrie; her sister, Norma Jean Meeks of Justin; other family members and a host of friends.
