Pauline Brown Melanson, 84, of Decatur passed from this earth Saturday, July 18th, 2026 in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Pauline was born July 31st, 1941 to Peter A. and Marie Blanche (Dastou) Moran in Fall River, Massachusetts. She was united in marriage July 30th, 1966 to Paul Brown, several years after their divorce she was reunited with her childhood sweetheart and married Leo Melanson March 13th, 1999. Pauline worked for the Department of Public Safety in Wise County and retired after 23 years. Pauline was active in many organizations including the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Women’s Club, and the church choir. After marrying Leo, she lived in Pompano Beach, Florida and was active in the Lion’s Club, and received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award in 2004/2005, and the Millard B. Conklin Crusader for Lionism Award in 2005/2006. Pauline served as the Women’s Membership Development Chairperson for District 35D. Upon her return to Decatur, she served as an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist for Assumption BVM.
Pauline was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Blanche Moran; her brother Donald Moran, and her late husband, Leo Melanson.
Those left to cherish her memory are her 2 daughters, Karleen Henderson of Ft. Worth and Deborah Brown of Round Rock; 2 sons, Karl S. Brown and wife Esmeralda of Bridgeport and Arthur T. Brown and wife Mandy of Kansas City, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Karen, Sebastian, Enrique and Pearson Brown and Nicholas Curtis; 1 great-grandchild, Emelia Powers-Brown; extended family and a host of friends.
Visitation will be held at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Decatur at 6:30 pm on Thursday, August 6 with a Rosary at 7:00. Visitation will continue during this time. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for Friday, August 7 at 1030 am.
