Dear Aunt Vanara, Donny & Debra,
I've tried several times to write a note of sympathy in regards to the loss of Uncle Paul. None of the standard words of encouragement apply.
Uncle Paul was always a rock, someone to call on that was always there when you needed him. He knew everything. I don't mean that sarcastically, he did. He knew what was wrong with a sick cow, or a busted tractor. If life threw something at you that you couldn't wrap your mind around, he was there to lend a calm, guiding hand, solid advice or meet you at the hospital to hold your hand. I looked up to him as the Uncle who, though quiet, would always answer your question, never got upset, always smiled and offered a hug. I'll miss his bird calls the most. I've never heard anyone else who could imitate them so well.
I've got tears in my eyes as I write this now. I so wish I had known sooner about his illness, to visit him at the hospital or at home. To hold his hand or give him a gentle hug. I learned of his passing too late to attend his memorial service. I would have loved to see Aunt Janet and Uncle John, Lori & Raymond, Donny & Debra, it's been soo long since we were all together.
I believe that someday we will all be back together, joined by Love.
Take care of yourselves. If there is anything I can do to help you in any way, please call me.
