Opal Melvina Clemans

December 28, 1915 — December 11, 2014

Paradise ~ Opal C. Clemans, 98, a housewife, went to be with our Lord Thursday, December 11, 2014 in Decatur.

Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 15, 2014 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Cottondale Cemetery. Family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Bro. Danny Russell will officiate. Pallbearers include Coy Cleveland, Melvin Meadows, Joe Tax, Jim Taylor, Seth Foster, and Jimmy Gentry. Honorary pallbearers are Larry McBride and Sam Erwin.

Opal was born on December 28, 1915 to Robert and Nora (Helton) Carter in Cottondale. She was united in marriage to Charles L. Clemans on June 13, 1944 in Fort Worth. Opal was a member of the Cottondale Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Ruby Carter; her brothers, Marice Carter and Herbert Carter.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, W.R. “Bob” Clemans of Paradise; her grandson, Jason Clemans and wife Christine of Paradise; her granddaughter, Jodi Messenger and husband Tommy of Paradise; her great grandchildren, Jana and Andrew Messenger, and Katelyn Clemans; other family members and a host of friends.
