Oma Gene King, 82, of the Colony passed away Saturday, October 18th, 2025 in Plano, Texas.

Oma was born August 1st, 1943 to Eugene Warren and Mary Edith (Sawyer) Parish in Decatur, Texas. She was married January 17th, 1969 to Travis Gene King in Washington, DC. Oma graduated with an Associates of Arts from the University of San Diego. She retired after a lengthy career in payroll tax accounting for a major healthcare provider. 

Oma had a wide circle of friends who met for cards, attending plays, or having dinner. She was active at the local senior center participating in the garden club where she perfected growing giant okra plants. 

She enjoyed painting class and created several pieces that will hang on a family member’s wall for generations. She loved animals, particularly her cats, and the possum named Ducky who visited her porch to see if she had left him grapes. She was a regular donor to The Colony Animal Shelter. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Mary Parish; her husband Travis King; her sister Francis Willmert, and her brother Gene Parish.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Nancy Perry and Janet Westbrook; 5 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 3 nieces; 1 nephew and their families.
