BRIDGEPORT -- Odetta Stanfield, 84, a homemaker and caregiver, died Sunday, March 25, 2007, in Bridgeport.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cates Street Church of Christ. Burial: West Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home. Officiating: Bro. Ray Cook and Bro. Joe Richardson. Pallbearers: Jason Roberts, Aaron Stanfield, Brian Keener, Matt Jenkins, Leon Dethloff, and Kendall Dethloff. Honorary Pallbearers: Greg Smith, Terry Garcia, Robert Bryan, Dale Barkley, and Lee Worley.
Memorials: Carpenter Street Church of Christ; Cates Street Church of Christ; or charity of choice.
Odetta married James Stanfield Nov. 24, 1938, in Bridgeport. He preceded her in death, as did her daughter, Allie Louise Roberts; sister, Ora Cavaness; granddaughter, Patricia Pewitt; and son-in-law, Claude Pewitt.
Survivors: Her daughter, Patsy Pewitt of Mineral Wells; sons, Jerry Stanfield and wife, Pam of Chico, Robert Stanfield and wife, Jan of Bridgeport; grandchildren, Sharon Garcia, Gayle Smith, Amy Bryan, Tammy Barkley, Jason Roberts, Aaron Stanfield, Bryan Keener, Jana Worley, Matt Jenkins and Chelsie Stanfield; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Sophie McGowan of Burleson, Eunice McWilliams of San Antonio; brother, William Grote of Burleson; sisters-in-law, Lorene Denton, Mildred Matzinger and Juanita Stanfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend, Trula Counts.
