Alvord: Odessa Cox, 84, of Alvord, passed away, Saturday, May 3, 2008 in Decatur.

Funeral services are 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the First Baptist Church in Alvord with burial in the Montague Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur. Rev. Bill Cleveland and Rev. Percy Parrish to officiate.

Pallbearers are Deroy Bennett, Randy Hamilton, Kenny Batchelor, Robert Davila, Scotty Batchelor and Harley Davila.

Odessa was born October 16, 1923 in Solona Community in Montague, Texas to Elijah Sherman and Anna Mae Cornelison. She married H. J. "Jack" Cox in Waurika, Oklahoma on October 31, 1939. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, her parents, son, Raymond Cox, granddaughter, Allison, great grandson, Brogan, brothers, Upton, Leon, Cecil and Edward Cornelison and sisters, Reba Green, Mallie Gaskins and Evelyn Wadsworth.

Left behind to cherish her memory are daughters, Joyce Bennett and friend, David Souther of Forestburg and Phyllis Parker and husband, James of Alvord; son, Gary Cox and wife, Nancy of Alvord; sisters, Jean Vanbebber and JoAnn Johnson both of Bowie; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
