Norma Jean (Boyd) Barnes

Alvord~ Norma Jean (Boyd) Barnes, 89, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 in Decatur, Texas.

Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2022 at Voice of Triumph Assembly of God Church in Sunset with burial in Alvord Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the church.

Norma was born on November 23, 1932 to John E. and Mary (Smothers) Boyd in Port Lavaca, Texas. She was united in marriage to J.B. Barnes on November 29, 1952 in Port Lavaca and they were together 60 wonderful years until his passing on January 22, 2013. Norma was a homemaker who cherished her time with her family. She also worked as a seamstress, a telephone operator and was Co-owner of J.B. Barnes Plumbing which her and her husband J.B. successfully ran for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. B. Barnes; her grandson, Avery Keith Barnes; her great-grandchild, Aisha; her brothers, Marvin, Leland and Carroll Boyd; and her sister, Nelda Zwahr.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Sheryl Zwahr and husband Steve of Alvord; her son, Avery Barnes of Alvord; her grandchildren, Shonda Mathews, Steven Zwahr, Jr., Hannah Phipps, Layla Barnes, Whitney Standridge and Joshua Bell Barnes; her great-grandchildren, Dayssi Hall, Ava Walker, Ila Biediger, Sadie Biediger, Cecily Standridge, Adalyne Standridge, Emery Cox, and Lily Zwahr; her great-grandchildren, Nash Leal, Aisha Walker, Iva Walker, and Anakin Walker; numerous extended family members and a host of friends
