Nora J. VanHoose

Chico ~ Nora J. VanHoose, 82, went to be with our Lord Thursday, May 1, 2025 in Chico.

Funeral Service is 10 a.m. Monday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial at Pleasant Grove #3 Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Nora was born on September 26, 1942 to Millard Ray and Leita A. (White) Crunk in Greenwood. She was united in marriage to Jimmie Ray VanHoose on February 1, 1963 in Decatur and they enjoyed 61 wonderful years together filled with love and joy before his passing in 2024. Nora was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and a friend to many that will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jimmie Ray VanHoose; her son, Jimmie Ray VanHoose II; her brother, Billy D. Crunk; and her sister, Raylene Slimp.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tammy Diann Martin; her grandchildren, Jennifer Lane and husband Nate, Mo Coffman, James Martin and wife Kelly, Kasey VanHoose, Tra VanHoose and wife Deana; her great-grandchildren, Madison VanHoose, Mason Martin, Kayden Lane, Wyatt Lane, Penelope Martin, and Aubrey Martin; her sister, Barbara Brooks; numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
