Nolan Daniel Christensen, 13, of Decatur, Texas, was called home to his Lord and Savior on Monday, June 16, 2025, alongside his beloved sister.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 24, at Decatur First Baptist Church.
Nolan was born on June 28, 2011, in Orlando, Florida, to Jacob Adam and Kristi Dee (Jackson) Christensen. After moving to Decatur, he attended Carson Elementary and McCarroll Middle School, where his joyful spirit and dedication left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
Nolan had a deep passion for running, capturing the District Championship in the 800-meter race and helping his team set a record in the 4x400-meter relay. He also played an important role in his cross-country team’s District Championship victory. His enthusiasm for sports and the outdoors extended to jiu-jitsu, shooting, and hunting with his father. Nolan's compassion and kindness were recognized when he was honored with the 7th Grade school year Kindness Award, a true reflection of his generous heart and character.
More than anything, Nolan was devoted to Christ. He actively participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was a cherished member of Decatur First Baptist Church, where his calm leadership, unique sense of humor, and unwavering faith inspired many of his friends to grow closer to God.
Nolan is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sandra and Dan Jackson; his aunts, Kelly (Jackson) Drennan and Angela (Christensen) Flores; and is now reunited with his sister, Sophia Christensen.
He is survived by his loving parents, Jake and Kristi Christensen; his sister, Ella Christensen; paternal grandfather, Steven Christensen, and Nana, Karen Scott; paternal grandmother, Colleen Rader, and Randall Rader; aunt, Steffany Scott; great-grandmother, Pauline Cupp; numerous cousins, extended family, and a host of dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many friends, caregivers, church members, and community members who have shown love and support during this difficult time.
