Nellie Jean Hunter

Bridgeport ~ Nellie Jean Hunter, 82, went to be with our Lord Sunday, February 26, 2023 in Bridgeport.

Graveside Service is 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2023 at Chico Cemetery. Family will receive friends 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to the service at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Nellie was born on April 9, 1940 to Lonzy and Odell (Pate) Headley in Alabama. She was united in marriage to James Hunter on April 15, 1960 in Weatherford. Nellie retired from Wise Regional Hospital as a housekeeper. She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother of 3 generations, and a friend to many who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lonzy and Odell Headley; her twin brother, John Edwin Headley and her sister, Mary Lucricia Headley who both passed at birth, her husband, James Hunter; 3 brothers, Carl, Raymond and Richard Headley; and 2 sisters, Jennette Headley and Martha Simmons.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her 3 daughters, Debbie Ezzell, Deannie Odea and husband Mike, and Linda Smith; her step-son, Joe Bryant Hunter; 7 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lucille Chaffin and Flossie Hunter; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
