Funeral is 4 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport with burial in West Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
Rev. David Rucker will officiate. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Joe Redwine, Stephen Rumbaugh, Bryan Redwine, Chris Brewer, Pancho Redwine, J.D. Redwine, Drew Redwine, Stryker Redwine, Phoenyx Redwine, Anthony Rumbaugh, Cade Rumbaugh, Jimmy Rumbaugh and Colton Grimes. Honorary pallbearers are Alvin Dethloff and Leon Dethloff.
Mollie was born on July 15, 1925 to Charlie and Louella (Coleman) Dethloff in Bridgeport. She was one of ten children. Katherine was given the nickname of Mollie by one of her uncles, who said she reminded him of their Aunt Mollie and so it stuck and she was Mollie from then on to everyone. However, her nieces and nephews always called her Aunt Katherine. Mollie married Elmer Joseph Brewer. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bridgeport and kept the nursery for 25 years. Mollie was a custodian for Gifford-Hill Company for 10 years. Mollie cleaned homes and took care of the elderly until she fell in 2001 and broke her back.
Mollie was preceded in death her parents; her husband, Elmer Joseph "Bill" Brewer; her son, Charles Roscoe Brewer; her brothers, Chris Dethloff, Kozie Dethloff, Herschel Dethloff, Homer Dethloff, Virgil Dethloff, Raymond Dethloff, and Leo Dethloff; her sisters, Bertha Byrd and Mary Dethloff.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Billy Jay Brewer and wife Leanna of Bridgeport and Jimmy Dale Brewer of Bridgeport; her daughters, Nellie Faye Brewer Redwine and husband James of Chico, Roxie Luella Brewer Rumbaugh and husband Pastor Joel of LaGrange; 6 grandchildren, Christopher Brewer, James Dale (Pancho) Redwine, Joe Redwine, Stephen Rumbaugh, Kathy Redwine, and Melissa Grimes; 14 great grandchildren; 1 great great granddaughter; her sister in law, Oleta Dethloff of Decatur; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of cherished friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charity of choice.
