Pilot Point ~ Nelda Grace Young, 83, a retired teacher, went to be with our Lord Thursday, May 12, 2016 in Pilot Point.
Funeral is 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Sycamore Baptist Church, with burial in Sycamore Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Rev. Gary Dimmit and Casey Lewis will officiate. Pallbearers include Gary Caraway, James Maples, Trent Young, Trey Young, Chris Cain, and Kent Cain.
Nelda was born on March 9, 1933 to John and Maurine (McIntush) Ramey in Quitman, Texas. She was united in marriage to Allen Ray Young on March 4, 1954 in Decatur. Nelda retired from Decatur I.S.D. as an administrator and school teacher for 45 years. She was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church in Decatur.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Allen Young; and her sister, Sue Ryan.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her nephews, Fred Maples and wife Trumanell of Decatur, Tommy Young and wife Christy of Garland, John Young and wife Jennifer of Fort Worth, and Britt Ryan; her nieces, Barbara Simpson and husband Ken of Arlington, Nora Faye Cain and husband Johnny of Decatur, Barbeth Van Baush and husband Dave of Altlanta, Georgia, Charlotte Smith of Atlanta, Georgia, Vanessa Ryan, and Kim Ryan; numerous cousins and a host of friends.
