Nelda Jean Sullivan

Nelda Jean Sullivan, 88, of Grapevine passed from this earth Friday, October 2, 2026 in Flower Mound, Texas.

Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6th at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

Nelda was born November 16, 1937 to Hubert M. and Mabel Arleen (Russell) Sullivan in Collin County, Texas. She was united in marriage June 21, 1997 to Homer Britton Burns, Jr. in Comal County, Texas. Nelda was a retired Salon Owner and Real Estate Banker after 25 years with Citi Group, Inc. She was a master gardener, world traveler, sailboat captain, loved playing golf, and tennis. Nelda was one of the greatest chefs and host you would ever meet. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Mabel Sullivan.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sherie Woodruff, Michelle Hurn and husband Doug, and Lisa Barnes and husband Joe; her grandchildren, Randy Hurn, Carly Roberts, Lisa Hilzendager, and Nikki Scruggs; great-grandchildren, Grant Hurn, Collin Hurn, Taylor Hilzendager, Allison Scruggs, John Michael Hilzendager, and Britton Scruggs; her very best friend, Myrna Deady; extended family and a host of friends.
