Nancy Lee (Spielman) Smith

Rhome ~ Nancy Lee Smith, 79, went to be with our Lord and Savior Friday, April 15, 2022.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Decatur.

Nancy was born February 28, 1943 in Sioux, Iowa and was adopted by Leonard and Lulu (Crow) Spielman. She spent her childhood and young adult life in Storm Lake, Iowa.  While attending Buena Vista College she met and married Peter M. Fehr in August 1963. To this union two children were born, a son Daniel R. Fehr and daughter Melinda S. Fehr, they later moved to Lake Mills, Iowa. Later she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Smith in October of 1977 at Spencer, Iowa. After making a home together for a period of time around Northwest, Iowa, they moved to the surrounding area of Ft. Worth. She was a beloved wife to Bill for over 44 years, before his passing in January of 2022. Nancy was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Lulu Spielman; and her husband William “Bill” Smith.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Daniel R. Fehr of Osage, Iowa; her daughter, Melinda S. (Fehr) Oakes of Williamsburg, Kansas; her step-children, Stuart Smith and wife Kathy of Sedalia, Missouri; Luana Smith of Sedalia, Missouri, and Robin Kerigan and husband Jerry of Washington State; 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; extended family members and a host of friends.
