Mona Jean Mitchum

Bridgeport ~ Mona Jean Mitchum, 81, a former daycare owner, went to be with our Lord Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in Bridgeport.
Funeral is 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial in West Bridgeport Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Rev. Larry Potts will officiate. Pallbearers include Ray Johnson, Kabel Conner, Derik Conner, Cody Acuff, Tim Mitchum, and Thomas Mitchum. Honorary pallbearers are Bradley Mitchum and Robert Mitchum.
Mona was born on March 9, 1933 to Virgil and Willie Mae (Pugh) Stone in Caddo County, Oklahoma. She was united in marriage to Thomas Mitchum on October 29, 1951 in Clovis, New Mexico. Mona owned and operated a daycare for many years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, “Tommy Ray” Mitchum; her daughter, Shirley Jean Fortenberry; her sister, Margie Marie Ratliff; and her brothers, J.C. Stone, Jack Stone, Donald Stone, and Jimmy Stone.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her sons, Jerry Mitchum and wife Vickie of Bridgeport, Jimmy Mitchum and wife Judy of Bridgeport, Michael Mitchum and wife Stacy of Bridgeport; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-granchildren; her sisters, Mary Joe Lasater of Springfield, Missouri, and Betty May Sharp of Midland; her brother, Billy Wayne Stone of Decatur; numerous other family members and a host of friends.
